PUPPY AND KITTEN CONSULTATIONS
Puppy and Kitten Consultations
At Fisher Glen Animal Hospital, our goal is to provide a complete health care plan for your pet, starting with a 30-minute physical examination each visit. Your first visit with a puppy or a kitten will be a full hour, allowing us to discuss all aspects of training and husbandry, and to address any “new parent” concerns that you may have. Furthermore, we will also create an individualized health plan for your pet.
Physical Exam and Health Plan
We begin each visit with a thorough inventory of your pet’s health, history, and behaviour. We encourage you to bring in a list of any questions you have about your new puppy or kitten so that we can address them all. The veterinarian will then examine your pet nose to tail, with assessment of their oral and dental health; eyes; skin, coat, ears and anal sacs; circulatory system; respiratory system; lymphatic system; neurological system; abdominal organs, and musculoskeletal system.
If your puppy or kitten has not been spayed or neutered, we can schedule the procedure at this time. At Fisher Glen Animal Hospital we generally perform spaying or neutering at approximately 6 months of age. Our veterinarian will thoroughly explain any procedures to be carried out, and we will provide a quote for any work-up. Additionally, if your puppy or kitten is ill, a follow-up exam or telephone call from Dr. Baar or Dr. Gates will be scheduled.
On Long Term Health
Your pet’s medical needs change as they grow from a puppy or kitten to an adult, therefore we tailor our approach accordingly, creating an individualized vaccination, examination, spay/neuter and preventive health plan for each patient. Puppy and kitten consultations are a great opportunity for learning and for establishing a long term health plan that will work best for you. Visit us today!
